Frequently Asked Questions

What is a flat rate fee?

Most of our agreements are based on a flat rate fee. Flat rate fees mean you pay a fixed rate, no matter how long it takes for us to complete the work. The benefit of this type of billing is that you will know the amount you have to pay for the full application process before the work even begins. It also means no hidden fees or surprises along the way.

Why do legal fees vary?

In the chart provided above, we have included our starting rates for an individual application. Legal fees can vary depending on the applicant’s circumstances or complexities of an application. Examples that may change the cost of our legal fees include previous refusals, inadmissibility issues, misrepresentations, humanitarian & compassionate considerations and dependents.

What is included in my legal fees?

We are a full-service immigration consulting firm. Our legal fees cover the cost of preparation, submission, management and on-going legal advice for your immigration application until a decision is made by the Canadian government. This includes document and information collection, guidance/reviews, drafting forms and legal submissions letters, submitting the application to the Canadian government and managing all basic government correspondence such as requests/responses, as well as status requests until a decision is made.

We care about the outcome of your file so in the event of a refusal, we will request the GCMS notes (ATIP Request) at no additional cost to you to understand why your application was refused and our recommendations on next steps.

Do I have to pay the full legal fee upfront?

Most of our legal fees are billed in two payments. An initial deposit to start work on your matter, and the balance prior to submission of your application.

Do you offer discounts?

Our focus is always on helping people, not on fees. We do our best to work with our clients and offer reduced rates to returning clients and clients retaining for more than one immigration matter with NextGen (bundled services).

How do I get an exact quote?

We always recommend starting your journey with NextGen through a formal immigration consultation. A consultation allows us to understand available options and provide you with the best immigration strategy as well as all the costs associated with this.

If you already know what you need help with and are ready to start with NextGen, send an email to info@ngilaw.com or call us at 647-797-3351.

Do I have to pay tax?

Canadian residents are charged GST per the Canadian Revenue Agency rules. Residents outside Canada are not subject to taxes.

Will I get a refund if my application is refused?

NextGen cannot guarantee the success of an application – the Government of Canada or the respective Canadian embassy/consulate is the ultimate decision-maker in this process. Although we are results orientated, we are paid for our time not the outcome of an application.

Are the government fees included in your legal fees?

Our quoted legal fees are always separate from the applicable government fees.

What are your payment methods?

We offer a range of convenient payment methods to our clients including Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and Interac e-transfer. In the office we will also accept cash.
